Leeds Grand Theatre fly floor

The original (i.e 1890's) fly floor was creaky as hell, making it a nightmare to move around up there during showtimes. Over the years it had been hacked up for power cables, heating pipes and the like, but rebuilding the whole floor was not an option.

I designed and built (with the assistance of Grape, a Leeds Grand legend) a new deck to sit over the whole thing, while allowing access to services beneath. Hauling the two parts out from the deck was a nerve-wracking moment, but it all came good in the end.

No more squeaks in the quiet bits of shows!
